Disappointed that there is no coverage of candidate Adrienne Adams’ blocking the City Council bill that would let City retirees keep our current Medicare coverage. Interesting that she and Mamdani have been endorsed by DC 37, which opposes its retiree’ efforts to keep their coverage.
I know. If this is a two person race, than we have to rank Mamdani or Cuomo somewhere. I think they would both be bad mayors. Cuomo would be in the Koch-Giuliani mold and Mamdani would be another one of many (Dinkins, BdB, even Agnos) mayors who come in with progressive plans and accomplish little. I am troubled by Mamdani who seems to think that being anti-Israel means it is impossible to be anti-Jewish. I have many Jewish friends who have been strongly critical of Israel and Netanyahu for decades and on the far left on US politics but are not going to rank Mamdani. I suspect there are a lot of voters like that. I also think Mamdani assures Cuomo victory. Stringer, Lander and A. Adams are all more broadly popular and if they slip into second place could pass Cuomo, but Mamdani will struggle to do that. There is also the general election to consider. E. Adams obviously wants Mamdani to win and would have a shot against him in a general. If the WFP goes with Stringer, Lander or A. Adams, as their nominee, that candidate could beat Cuomo in the general. In an odd way, Stringer is running for mayor of NYC circa 2010 and Mamdani for mayor of NYC circa 2035.
I think Art Agnos accomplished a more than a little and would have done more had he won re-election. Affordable housing, tearing down Embarcadero Freeway, ended deficit spending, reforming police, supporting rights of many and first mayor to walk in pride parade, programs to address homelessness, and others.
My comment is kind of off topic but I like Agnos and feel San Francisco would be a better place if we had his type of policies and leadership instead of Daniel Lurie
I totally agree. Agnos was an excellent mayor. I supported him both times he ran. However, I think even he would say he struggled to implement his progressive goals.

Based on polling, not ranking Mamdani means Cuomo will win. I'd be curious whether you think Cuomo or Mamdani would be a better mayor
