Over the weekend, Iran, as was widely expected, launched a missile and drone attack on Israel in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of the Iranian Embassy compound in Damascus. Israel, with assistance from the US and Jordan was able to shoot down almost all the missiles and minimize casualties. This attack came only days after President Biden reiterated his monosyllabic warning “don’t” aimed at Iran. Teheran undoubtedly heard the warning and decided to ignore it.

It is not yet known what the US will do next, or whether the conflict between Israel and Iran will escalate even further, but it is becoming more apparent that the Israel-Hamas war is also a proxy war between the US and Iran.
