Trump's cabinet nominees are part of his effort to make the Republican Senators bend to his will early in his term.

Imagine that a few months before this election you had told a Trump supporting or undecided friend that if Trump won he would do things like appoint Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Matt Gaetz as Attorney General (AG) and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Your friend would have told you to calm down, assured you that things would not get that bad, that you were overstating the threat Trump represented or some other similar condascending nonsense. Your friend would have been wrong.
