The Terrible Lessons of the War in Gaza and Israel
The notion that violence and terrorism cannot work are core liberal values. Recent events and Israel and Gaza test those notions.
The war in Gaza and Israel has caused an enormous amount of death and human suffering. The conflict began on October 7th when Hamas massacred about 1,200 civilians almost all of whom were Jewish. In addition to the killings, Hamas also took about 240 people hostage. In the following weeks Israel's war in Gaza, particularly its bombing campaign, has killed roughly 14,000 Palestinians.
