The Dodgers Beat Out the Yankees for Yamamoto
The Yankees and Dodgers are baseball's most famous teams, but they have very different approaches and outlooks.
This has been an extraordinary off-season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. They signed two free agents to contracts that, taken together, are worth slightly more than $1 billion and gave an extension worth north of $100 million to another pitcher. The Dodgers are adding Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow to a team that won 100 games last year and 100 or more games in each of the last four full seasons. During the Covid season of 2020, the Dodgers only won 60 of 103 regular season games, but won the World Series.
