Reminding Voters Democracy Is on the Ballot Is Not Enough

Concerns about democracy are increasingly a democratic donor class concern.

The crisis of democracy and the fascist threat raised by Donald Trump and his MAGA movement is very real. The damage that a second Trump presidency would do to American democracy and the American state is profound, and painful to even contemplate. However, it is increasingly apparent that the “democracy is on the ballot” frame for this election is, while undisputably true, largely a Democratic Party donor class concern.
