The August 1st trade deadline has become a much more interesting mid-season baseball ritual than the All-Star Game. In the weeks between the All-Star Game and the trade deadline, every team has to evaluate their season and decide whether to buy, sell, neither or both. Teams can remake themselves for a few weeks in July and equip themselves for a World Series run. This is precisely what the Atlanta Braves did in July of 2021, when they acquired Joc Pederson, Adam Duval, Eddie Rosario and Jorge Soler. All four of those players contributed to the Braves winning the World Series that year.
