Iran and Trump's Foreign Policy
Trump's decision to bomb Iran was made with little consultation with Congress and even less consideration about what comes next.
Donald Trump's foreign policy inclinations have never been entirely clear. He has been, on the one hand something of an isolationist, but also seemed to enjoy saber rattling and making threats. Moreover his affinity for authoritarian leaders, primarily Vladimir Putin of Russia, has colored his foreign policy views. Trump's isolationism has also been an important part of his domestic political appeal. In 2016 he broke away from the rest of the Republican pack in the primaries because he was willing to state the obvious truth that the war in Iraq had been a disaster.
