Blaming Netanyahu Is Too Easy

The Israeli Prime Minister is a dreadful leader and an easy target, but Israel's challenges run much more deeply.

Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu has played a uniquely destructive role during this conflict in Gaza, but the full scope of the disaster wrought by Netanyahu has gone well beyond that.

Netanyahu’s mismanagement of intelligence and military resources made it possible for Hamas to carry out its deadly massacre on October 7^th. The governments Netanyahu have led for much of the past two decades, but particularly during the first ten months or so of 2023 have sought, with some success, to role back Israeli democracy. Netanyahu has turned the government of Israel over to a group of religious extremists, nationalist fanatics and overall incompetents that you would not trust to manage the beer concession at a minor league baseball game.
