America Chooses Fascism

Trump's victory is a reminder that the notion that Americans believe in democracy has always been aspirational.

For many years now one of the most absurd and tiresome questions in American politics has been “why do white working class voters vote against their interests?” This is an unhelpful question because it is oblivious to the reality that white working class people, like everybody else, can, and do, have interests that go beyond simply their pocketbook.
