Abandonding Oakland for Las Vegas Is Peak MLB
The Athletics appear to be moving to Las Vegas. It is not tough to see that much could go wrong there.
Anybody who has been to the Oakland Coliseum knows that it is a pretty dreadful ballpark. It feels old and dilapidated, but despite all the great baseball and football moments that occurred there-as well as some pretty fun concerts, not quite historic. The views are not great, in part because the foul territory is endless. It is a relic of the era of multi-purpose stadiums surrounded by an expanse of parking lots. Even, when the ballpark was new it was not quite beloved. As far back as the 1970s, when the A’s were the best team in the world, winning three consecutive World Series, they averaged fewer than 1,000,000 fans per year.
